GBP Creative presents....

Currently on exhibit at the Yukon Arts Centre Public Gallery from June 9th-Aug 27, 2016.
Consists of 23 portraits representing 23 different stories of mental health.
Exhibit also includes a space for viewers to share their own personal stories anonymously through a comment jar, encouraging the viewer to be part of the conversation on mental health in our communities.

Gary and Brianne Bremner are a creative team based in Whitehorse Yukon, who specialize in photographic portraiture and storytelling. I am one of the subjects and it has been both an honour and a terror in talking about my ongoing struggles with anxiety and depression. For pics and backstories of all the portraits go to the website:

A little plublicity....and great workshops!! :)

Marcin Waszkielis (Polish sword and shield champion at IMCF 2016) is currently visiting Yukon (well, technically José is helping him get 'lost' in the wilderness LOL!). As part of his stay he is giving workshops to us newbies. Very cool!

Some local press:

And a little photo:

I love the photo, but I'm a little leery about it - I suspect I was picked to be photographed because I was the only female. :P [Would have made more sense to use a pic of Marcin!]

In other shenanigans...

You may have noticed that I have not posted much for quite a while. The truth is I'm taking an extended break from music. I have resigned my position as musical director of the Big Band, and, well, BKS' members have flown to the four winds. As I haven't found anything musical in town that grabs me, I've decided to let it lie for a bit. I am doing a bit of composing, though, and have signed up for FAWM (February Album Writing Month). Have I posted anything yet? Nooooo....

[I'd better get a move on. There's only a few days left!]

So what have I been doing instead?!

My first duel in armour :):):)I'm in the black and red. :)

I now belong to the Company of The White Wolf, a medieval combat group that uses steel weapons. They're dull, of course, but they'll still give you a nasty welt/cut/break if you get hit on a non-armoured spot. *evil cackle*

So far I've not only been training , but also making some of my own gear, refereeing, and I made the company banner. Also working on two shields, one for fighting and one for decoration.

Shenanigans, indeed. :)

Big Band Silver Anniversary Gala - May 23, 2015

National Drone Music Day...??

I had the please of taking part in Whitehorse's event for National Drone Music Day, a day of experimental music featuring (you guessed it) drone!  Jona Barr hosted the Whitehorse event at Splintered Craft on 4th Ave. Joining Jona were Jordy Walker, Will Hegsted, myself and Charlie and John (sorry, don't know your last names), and maybe some other people who had shown up earlier. We created really cool improvised soundscapes of electronic drones with a bit of saxophone thrown in. I think Jona even recorded them. *shifty eyes* :)

Here's Jona trying to explain it to Dave White:
